🎞️ How do I get geolocation data from DJI Matrice 4 series video files?
Thanks to Malcolm for support with this tool.
When you record video with a DJI Matrice 4 series drone, the GPS coordinates, altitude, camera settings, and other flight data are stored inside the video file itself as a hidden subtitle track — rather than in a separate .SRT file like older DJI drones.
This tool reads the structure of your .MP4 file to locate that hidden subtitle track, extracts the telemetry entries, and converts them into a standard .SRT file format that Eagle Eyes Scan can understand.
Only a small portion of the file is actually read — the tool skips over the video data and goes straight to the metadata, so it works quickly even with very large files.
Everything runs entirely in your web browser using JavaScript. Your video files never leave your computer — nothing is uploaded anywhere.
